The iPhone LCD can use a MLCD + screen like LG G7 ThinQs
Speculations swirl over the next iPhone due to Apple's annual announcements, usually every September. The current voices have three iPhones, one of which will be a larger 6.1-inch model with an LCD screen.
Now Apple launches its estimate in the ring and speculates on Sunday that when a new iPhone LCD is produced, it can use the same MLCD + as that of LG debuted in its LG G7 ThinQ, which we discussed today. Switching to LCD is logical in light of how expensive OLED is, and G7 is 6.1 inches, so the format is also logical.
That phone is not available yet - we've looked at a pre-production unit - but says it can reach up to 1000 nits of brightness, making it more suitable for HDR video streaming and viewing in bright light than dimmed screens .
IPS MLCD + is very similar to the structure of RGBW arrays that LG launched on some OLED TVs in 2013, but as an LCD screen it probably looks more like the background displays used on many cameras to increase the external brightness. The array consists of the typical three primary colors used for the colors, as well as a white (or transparent) filter on every fourth pixel to show more light.
