The EU is investigating Apple's planned acquisition of Shazam

In December of 2017, Apple has announced plans to acquire Shazam, one of the most famous music recognition services.

If this step is done, it will complement Apple Music. Of course this will beautify Apple Inc.'s portfolio. But how far has Apple's desire been running?

The latest news reported by GSM Arena that states that the EU has launched a broad antitrust investigation into the proposed acquisition, which has a September 4 deadline.

So far, the EU will investigate whether Apple can use Shazam data to lure people to its own music streaming service and keep them away from competitors.

Apple is allegedly able to gain unfair access to sensitive commercial information about rival music service users.

Not only that, the EU authorities also want to know if Apple Music's competitors will be harmed, if Shazam stops referring customers to them after the acquisition.

So far there has been no confirmation from Apple Inc. This issue is certainly interesting to wait for.
