If you're looking for words when writing an e-mail, you have a new Gmail feature that lets you understand the context of an e-mail and suggest phrases to users.
This Smart Compose feature was one of the latest AI innovations unveiled by Google at the inauguration of its annual developer conference on Tuesday, May 8th.
The tech giant has announced new features based on machine learning. It makes computers smarter by learning and developing their services and applications, such as Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Assistant.
For example, photos allow users to instantly share an image with smart suggestions. Users can also edit photos quickly, such as B. Lighten or paste colors into black and white images.
Google has also announced a new feature that helps users avoid spending too much time on their phone. The latest version of the Android P mobile operating system includes a new dashboard that shows how much time users spend on their devices, how much time they spent on apps, and how many notifications they received.
NEW FEATURES OF THE GOOGLE ASSISTANT
Most of the new KI-enabled features released on Tuesday will be used to enhance Google Assistant, which is now available on 500 million devices, including smartphones, TVs, smart speakers, and headphones.
Advances in artificial intelligence have helped Google shorten the time needed to create a new voice for the Google Assistant and make it more natural.
That's why Google has added six new votes for Google Assistants, which can now be selected by all users. Later this year, musician John Legend will be one of the voices added by Google Assistant.
Users will soon enjoy a more natural conversation with Google Assistant. Users no longer need to say "Hey Google" for each additional query after the initial "Hey Google".
The Google Assistant will soon be able to understand and respond to several requests, such as: For example, turn on a smart home device and answer a question in the same application.
Apart from Google Home Smart Speakers, the Google Assistant has been redesigned to be even more immersive and interactive on the phone.
This is achieved through a new user interface that adds more visual elements, such as: For example, controls for devices connected to the smart home on the phone. The wizard also gives users an overview of their day as well as relevant suggestions.
ANDROID P
As always, Google's Android P mobile operating system was at the center of the developer conference. Version 9.0 of the popular operating system has not yet received an official name, but the tech giant has introduced the beta version of Android P Tuesday.
While Android 8.0 Oreo focuses on the changes under the hood that have optimized software performance, Android P will bring a host of visual changes that will be the first major overhaul of the overall look of Android.
The first major change is the introduction of a new gesture-based navigation control that allows users to control their devices without navigation buttons on the screen.
Other improvements include the use of artificial intelligence to prioritize battery performance for the most commonly used applications and services. Machine learning has also been involved in creating an automatic brightness mode for the display that will learn your preferred brightness setting depending on the environment.
AI AND DIGITAL WELLNESS
At the opening of the opening speech of the three-day event, Google boss Sundar Pichai reiterated the theme of the AI that appeared last year when he declared that the world had passed from "mobile-first" to "AI-first".
Dr. Pichai said that health care will be one of the most important areas transformed by AI. For example, AI could be used to predict the risk of a heart attack or stroke in a patient by simply examining the medical images of the patient's eye.
He also acknowledged that while technology can improve people's lives, it can create its own challenges.
For example, he added, users struggle to find a balance in their lives because they are afraid of missing messages and other notifications from their phones.
Therefore, Android P will include a new dashboard feature that shows how long users have been spending on their devices.
The operating system includes an application timing feature that allows users to set time limits for applications. It also has a new Do Not Disturb mode, which, in addition to cutting phone calls and notifications, prevents on-screen notifications from appearing.
To ensure that users go to bed on time, a new shutdown feature turns the screen on at a certain time so they can remember it's time to rest.
GOOGLE NEWS REVAMP
Google is replacing two of its latest apps, Google Play Newsstand and the Google News and Weather app with a new Google News app.
This new application uses AI to analyze and organize news in real time to help readers understand the stories. It will feature a "For You" tab that selects five articles based on headlines, local news and relevant topics for users.
A "Full Coverage" feature displays all relevant news articles to provide a complete overview of a specific event or story. The content displayed by Full Coverage is not personalized for users, so they receive all the same elements.
The app will be available in 127 countries on Android, iOS and the web next week.
