Apple plans to sell video subscriptions via the TV app

Apple's plan to reinvent cable TV is similar to that of its rival Amazon.com.

For the first time, Apple plans to sell subscriptions to certain video services directly through its application instead of asking users to subscribe to the App Store.

Apple's TV app on Apple's TV, iPhones and iPads makes it a central place for people to watch and buy content. It would also be another way for Apple to continue to expand its business services, which is expected to generate $ 50 billion ($ 67 billion) in revenue annually by 2021.

Apple is one of the best selling movies and TV series thanks to iTunes, but it is becoming more and more popular. Netflix and YouTube, which owns the competitor Alphabet, operate the two largest online video services in the world outside of China.

Apple's leadership has explored different ways to enter the business world.

Bumpy networks. Instead of the live TV service, Apple launched the TV application in 2016, which merges the content of existing applications.

Potential partners described Apple's efforts with the TV app as the company's latest experience.
