THROUGHOUT the first quarter of 2018, Xiaomi has become a supplier of mobile phones with the highest growth of market share.
Reports Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Tracker Phone from International Data Corporation (IDC) noted Xiaomi is currently ranked 4th place in the world's top vendors, which stood at 8.4% market share, up 87.8% (yoy).
"Xiaomi's performance undoubtedly sees its strong growth outside China," the IDC report said on its official website.
In fact, Xiaomi's domestic shipments account for less than half of its total shipments in Q1 / 2018. This is in contrast to what most other Chinese suppliers are relying on in the domestic market.
IDC calls this year Xiaomi focuses on expanding to India and Southeast Asian countries.
Meanwhile, India has become Xiaomi's biggest market today due to the success of sales via online channels. The variants of the low end line of Xiaomi, 5A redmi, dominated up to 2/5 of the total transfers from Xiaomi to India.
Xiaomi also became the second brand after Samsung to do the assembly of printed circuit board (PCB) in India. It also strengthens the "Made in India" campaign, echoed by Xiaomi to win the hearts of its customers in the Bollywood country.
The sale is a positive incentive for Xiaomi Corp., which plans to go public on the Hong Kong stock exchange, targeting proceeds from the $ 10 billion initial public offering (IPO). This is the largest IPO since Alibaba is on the New York Stock Exchange.
Meanwhile, Samsung has not left its position as the world's top cellphone supplier, despite a 2.4% drop in market share.
Both the latest variant of flagship Samsung S9 + S9 series and the reason for the decline in Samsung's market share is not very drastic and is expected next quarter showed a rise.
Samsung S9 and S9 + has become the backbone of the average selling price of South Korean suppliers over the first quarter of 2018. In addition, the A-series and J-series is still the largest contributor to Samsung's total shipments.
After Samsung, in second place, Apple still maintains its position with a market share of 15.2%. Although iPhoneX reportedly did not show a good performance in the quarter, the most cutting edge Apple claims the phone has become the most popular variant of each week during March.
