Apple is likely to adhere to 7nm chips by 2019

Apple's series A chipset for 2019 is likely to be based on the 7nm design.

According to reports, the CEO of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) told DigiTimes that the mass production of 5nm chips is scheduled for late 2019 or early 2020 with a risk production of 5nm chips for the first half of the year. 2019. This rules out any possibility of Apple adopting 5nm chip design for its A-series processors in 2019.

Meanwhile, TSMC has increased production of 7nm chips from 10.5 million units in 2017 to 12 million units this year. TSMC will also begin to record integrated chips in an enhanced 7nm node with extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) in the second half of 2018.

Bloomberg reported last month that TSMC has begun mass production of Apple's next-generation A12 processors, which will be based on a 7nm design. A few days ago, Reuters reported that TSMC will invest $ 25 billion in 5nm technology to maintain its status as Apple's exclusive provider.
